Blazars' Bimodal Blasting of Beams from Black Holes | Animation
Description
Supermassive black holes at the cores of large galaxies can power bright jets of super-fast gas. Those spitting out the highest amount of energy are called 'blazars.' Astronomers believed there were 2 types of blazers but new evidence shows they are closely related. NASA Fermi Gamma-Ray telescope observations were combined with data from large ground-based telescopes to obtain this result.
