China launches 'Einstein Probe' with x-ray tech inspired by lobster eye
Description
A Chinese Long March-2C rocket launched the Einstein Probe (EP) satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center on Jan. 9, 2024. The satellite will "monitor the X-ray sky to discover & characterise high-energy transients and variability in X-ray band," according to ESA.
The satellite employs x-ray technology inspired by a lobster eye.
