Description

In the past few days, comet C/2023 A3 (Tsuchinshan-ATLAS) has come within the sights of the ESA/NASA Solar and Heliospheric Observatory. On Oct. 9, it captured a coronal mass ejection generated from a powerful X1.8-class solar flare.

NASA's Solar Dynamics Observatory captured close-ups of the flare.
