Meet Andres Rivera, an engineer helping to ensure the Europa Clipper spacecraft safely navigates its journey to Jupiter’s icy moon Europa, a world believed to have a vast liquid water ocean beneath its surface.
Immigrating to the United States. as a teenager, Andres shares his inspiring story of determination and how he worked his way to NASA, where he now contributes to one of humanity’s most ambitious missions to understand if a distant world could have the right conditions to support life.
Europa Clipper is set to launch in October 2024 from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It will arrive at Jupiter in 2030. The mission is managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California, with key spacecraft infrastructure contributions from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland.
