Meet Jenny Kampmeier, a science systems engineers for Europa Clipper, a spacecraft that will determine whether there are places below the surface of Jupiter’s icy moon Europa that could support life.
Once a professional musician, Jenny shares her unconventional path to NASA and how her musical background plays a role in the work she does today helping turn science fiction in to science reality.
Europa Clipper is set to launch in October 2024 from NASA’s Kennedy Space Center in Florida. It will arrive at Jupiter in 2030. The mission is managed by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California, with key spacecraft infrastructure contributions from the Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory in Laurel, Maryland.
