pt2. The MOTHERLOAD they didnt want us to see. Elysium Cinema
Description
Elysium Cinema Swansea is also known in Wales as the MOTHERLOAD as its one of the largest and most interesting explores. It is also supposed to be the hardest location to visit. Due to this the forums tried to desuade me from going by throwing out various reasons for me not to go but now I know it was just to stall me so i just wouldnt visit because they were jealous and wanted to stop me.
Some said it took them seven attempts to get in. We did it in one and visited all the areas inside this cinema. It really is an amazing blast from the past. Step back in time with us and see another once proud building which has withstood 110 years.
Here is some info from Cinema Treasures:
"A very impressive high fronted building at the top end of Swansea High Street just seconds away from the main line station. The Elysium Cinema opened on 11th April 1914 in a building which was part used as the Dock Workers Hall. It was designed by the architectural firm Ward & Ward of the Strand, London. It closed as a cinema in 1960 and went over to use as a bingo hall, which had closed by 1994. It has been boarded up for many years now."Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/mattswilli/
