Science in Focus. The Kavli Prize 2020 | Astrophysics
Description
There are many types of telescopes used in astronomy, but X-ray telescopes offer a view of the cosmos that reveal just how much of a living ecosystem the universe is.
Andrew Fabian, winner of the 2020 Kavli Prize in Astrophysics, is a leader in the field of X-ray astronomy. His research has yielded learnings and discoveries on both a macro and micro scale. From uncovering the heating and cooling mechanisms of inter-galactic gas in clusters of galaxies to discovering X-ray spectral emissions from around black holes, his work continues to inform and add to our understanding of the universe.
