SpaceX will try to launch the Cosmo-Skymed Second Generation 2 (CSG-2) satellite into a sun-synchronous orbit for the Italian Space Agency, which is part of the European Space Agency. The Falcon 9 Block 5 Booster XXX will launch from Space Launch Complex 41 (SLC-41) and then execute a boostback burn to return to Landing Zone 1 and land (LZ-1).
The Cosmo-Skymed Second Generation 2 (CSG-2) satellite will follow the original COSMO-SkyMed (CSK) constellation 180 degrees apart from the CSG-1 satellite. The CSG system is designed to deliver data to both civilian and military users. CSG-2 has a design life of seven years, with an extra two years built in.
