SpaceX launches Space Force satellites to track missiles & more, nails landing in California
Description
SpaceX's Falcon 9 rocket launched 10 Tranche 0 mission satellites for the Space Force's Space Development Agency (SDA) from California's Vandenberg Space Force Base on April 2, 2023.
"Eight of the spacecraft going up today will relay data and two will track missiles, though this first set is intended primarily to demonstrate capabilities that future SDA satellites will take operational," according to Space.com.
The Falcon 9 first stage landed at Vandenberg's Landing Zone 4 several minutes after separation from the upper stage.
