Stadium-Size Asteroid's Earth Fly-By Captured by Telescope
Description
Asteroid 2017 VR12 safely flew by Earth on Mar. 7, 2018. Its closest approach to Earth was about 898,000 miles away (1,445,190 km). Gianluca Masi (Virtual Telescope Project) and Michael Schwartz (Tenagra Observatories) snapped imagery of the estimated 840-foot wide (256 meters) space rock.
