The Day John Glenn Made American History: 60th Anniversary
Description
Where were you in ’62? On Feb. 20 of that year, U.S. Marine Lt. Col. John Glenn became the first American to orbit the Earth, piloting Friendship 7 three times around the world in less than five hours and opening a new frontier. On its 60th anniversary, share the images of the day that the United States took another giant step forward in human space exploration, a day that became a building block for all that was still to come: Apollo on the Moon, the space shuttle and the International Space Station, and the missions of Artemis that are just over the horizon.
